"One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul."
— Clarissa Pinkola Estés
Inspired by a personal reworking of Atlas Shrugged while working on the "Strength" card for my upcoming tarot, the Wanderess was borne. "Paint me" she demanded.
:I wouldn't know where to start, " I confessed.
"At the beginning." she noted quietly. "Here." she pointed to my heart.
I meditated on this for a time, playing with images of women in woods, by salted shores. Wandering through elements. I confess, they all looked a little lost.
"Think of who I am." she murmured.
She wears diaphonous, trailing silver robes, and jeweled anklets. She belongs to no one, and dances barefoot under the moon. She bathes in the violet sea at dawn, and only moss and vine can cling to her. She trails the scent of incense and oak wherever she goes. She is fond of bells and train whistles and the deep-throated song of foghorns. She chases storms, sleeps with thunder and is restless, but never, ever lost. She is you. She is me.
"I was a woman first." she winks. "Just a woman in love with the sun."
In this portrayal, I've fashioned her in her feminine splendour with the sun at her back, swirled with storm and sea, calmly measuring the incalcuable, demonstrating the cosmic source of her power and light. She is a call to remember that not all who are wandering are lost, and a reconnection to our own wild soul within.
Hidden images are incorporated for the viewer to spiritually discover on her own. The original print was created at an astrologically favorable time with magickally appropriate aspects. This art works as a talisman to incorporate her intuitive energies to awaken the dormant seeress within you.
It is, in and of itself, a unique and one of a kind work of art which will delight and inspire you for years to come.
